A woman was airlifted to a London hospital after she was hit by a van in Canterbury.

Emergency crews said the casualty - described as in her late 40s - suffered head, chest and limb injuries in the accident along Old Dover Road at 1.10pm.

An air ambulance was called and flew her to King’s College Hospital in London at 2.40pm.

The road, at the junction with St Lawrence Road, was re-opened 20 minutes later.

The condition of the woman is not yet known.
