Woman knocked over as man snatches bag in Canterbury robbery

A woman was knocked to the floor as she was robbed in Canterbury city centre last month.

The 60-year-old was walking towards New Dover Road as she was approached from behind on a footpath on St Augustine’s Road. The man, who is said to be white and was wearing a dark hooded top and jeans, stole the woman’s bag.

It contained a wallet with £40 cash, keys, various cards and keys. The woman was later treated for a head injury shortly after at the nearby Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Police are now hoping people who may have witnessed the robbery sometime between 10.30pm and 10.40pm on Saturday, March 20 will come forward with information.

Witnesses should contact DC Wells on 01227 868336, quoting reference EY/004220/10 or they can contact Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
