Police called to Sturry Road, Canterbury after reports woman threatened to set property on fire

A woman allegedly threatened to set fire to a property in a residential area before attacking an emergency worker.

Police and firefighters were called to the A28 Sturry Road in Canterbury just after 9pm yesterday amid concerns about the reported threat.

The incident, which took place close to a petrol station, did not end in a blaze but officers arrested a woman at the scene.

A spokesman said: “Kent Police was called to a disturbance at a property in Sturry Road, Canterbury, just after 9pm on Friday, June 23.

“Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service after threats were made to set fire to the property.

“A woman was arrested in connection with the incident and on suspicion of assault and the assault of an emergency worker.”

The woman was taken into custody, where she remains while investigations continue.
