Whitstable moved further away from the foot of the Ryman League Division 1 South table after a fine 2-1 win over playoff-chasing Walton & Hersham.

The visitors took the lead at the KRBS Belmont shortly after the half-hour with a header past Kevin Fewell after Kieran Morris was evaded by a Hersham winger.

A fine double-save from Fewell and a goalline clearance from Gary Sayer kept Town in it until after the break Dave Cory's header was handled in the box and Stuart Vahid, pictured, kept his nerve to convert from the spot.

Vahid ensured the Oystermen moved eight points clear of basement-boys Ashford Town and within three points of 17th-placed Walton Casuals when he superbly glanced in a fine cross from Dan Dolton to give Mark Munday's side the points.
