Britain's ‘tastiest bit of crumpet’ has been immortalised in butter, jam and Marmite.

Using more than 100 jars of spreads, two giant mosaics of Pippa Middleton have been whipped up with help from staff from the Long Reach Beefeater Grill in Whitstable.

Though her sister Kate is set to be the future Queen, it’s Pippa that has been crowned the nation’s number one choice to wake up for breakfast with.

It was revealed in a poll of 2,000 people, which was commissioned by the restaurant to celebrate its new breakfast menu.

More than a fifth (21 per cent) of the adults polled voted the socialite as their ideal female breakfast companion, pipping both Fearne Cotton and Cheryl Cole to the post, who only managed to conjure up 17 per cent and 15 per cent of the votes respectively.

Pippa’s posterior stole the royal wedding limelight and the two pieces of artwork, which measure 13m by 20m, are a nod to her newly-found top totty status.

The mosaics are made from a jaw-dropping 15,000 crumpets and weigh in at more than a tonne.

Condiments create shading and help bring the images of both Pippa’s face and a cheeky recreation of the now infamous backside to life.

The feat took more than 24 hours to complete by staff from branches around the country, including Whitstable.

David Murdin from Beefeater Grill said: "We wanted to do something to celebrate the launch of our breakfast menu and thought it would be interesting to find out who the nation would most like to share their first meal of the day with.

"It’s no surprise that someone as striking as Pippa has ranked as the country’s top bit of crumpet.

"Sadly we may not be able to guarantee Pippa as part of our breakfast offering, but at the Long Reach we feel confident that guests will enjoy our new breakfast menu."
