Firefighters had to act quickly to put out a blazing truck in a Canterbury car park to stop the flames spreading to other vehicles.

The flat back truck, carrying portable toilets, was parked in the Northgate car park when a fire started in the vehicle’s engine bay shortly after 2pm on Thursday.

Kim Woolsgrove, who works at the nearby Job Centre, took our photograph as firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze.

A spokesman at Canterbury fire station said: "We had to act quickly because there were lots of others cars parked close by and the truck had some generator equipment on it.

"Fortunately, we were able to swiftly put it out but there was some damage to the vehicle’s cabin."
