Traffic jams after rush-hour crash on M2

A crash involving three vehicles on the M2 caused rush-hour chaos this morning.

It happened on the London-bound carriageway between junction 6, the A251 for Faversham, and junction 5 for the A249 just before 5am.

At the height of rush hour traffic was backed up past junction 7 at Brenley Corner.

All lanes were re-opened at about 7.30am. No one was seriously injured.

One driver stuck in the queue said: "The traffic was stationary for long periods. Heavy sleet was falling and some sarted to settle near the central reservation.

"It took me 40 minutes to get from Brenley Corner to the Faversham junction. which is only about a mile and a half."

There are also reports of another accident causing problems on the coast-bound M2 between junctions 5 and 6.
