The district's newest music talent went head-to-head on the Kings Hall stage on Saturday.

The fourth annual Whitstable Rotary Club Battle of the Bands saw eight bands perform in front of a 300-strong crowd at the Herne Bay venue. The Undisputed took the honours from the panel of three judges while Lite Vinyl were crowned winners of the audience vote.

Organiser and rotary vice president Rob Webb was delighted with another lively event.

He said: “The kids who play and support the event really are great, well-behaved and really appreciative.

“Numbers were a bit down this year, but we think that’s down to bands from previous years now being too old to enter as we restrict the age range to 13-19. Those older bands have quite big followings and in previous years it has been quite a rock dominated line-up.

“But, this year we had everything from heavy metal through to soul and funk.”

Other bands who performed on the night were The Hobots, In Cold Blood, The Red Hoodies, The Roswell Decision, The Flare and The Simon Langton Girls School Soul and Funk Band.
