Two Faversham teenagers will serve time in a young offenders institution after a 17-year-old student was brutally assaulted.

Lee Clifford, 19, of St Paul’s Road, Boughton-Under-Blean, and a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named, were arrested in April after the attack in Church Street, Whitstable.

They were arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm alongside 19-year-old Ryan Wraight of Whitstable.

The 17-year-old suffered swelling, bruising to his ears, cuts and sore ribs in the attack on a playing field.

The trio initially denied assault but later changed their pleas to guilty.

Clifford will serve 15 months detention while the girl will serve nine months. Wraight was given a nine-month referral order.

They were sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on March 5. All three were ordered to pay the victim £20 compensation each.
