A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of a serious sexual assault on New Year’s Eve.

The 16-year-old was questioned on Tuesday in relation to an attack on a teenage girl near the Kings Hall (pictured right) in Beacon Hill, Herne Bay.

He contacted police after they put out an appeal for witnesses to the assault in a seafront shelter between 9.30 and 11pm.

The boy was released on bail until February 24 pending a decision to prosecute.

Officers say they are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
