A swan has been shot twice in the head with an air rifle in Vauxhall Road, Canterbury.
The female swan is recovering at a wildlife centre.
RSPCA inspector Miranda Albinson is urging anyone with information to come forward.
The incident happened on Saturday, April 5.
She said: “It is unfortunately very common during school holidays for youngsters to be out and about with air rifles and we always see an increase in these type of incidents.
“Anyone causing harm to an animal like this should know that they can face up to six months in prison.”
