Canterbury to host Squeeze in warm-up gig

Squeeze are set to play a sell-out gig in Canterbury tonight.

Known for their hits Cool For Cats, Up The Junction and Tempted, the British new wave band that hail from the 1970s will take to the stage at the Westgate Hall.

The gig is a warm-up performance for their upcoming Cradle To The Grave tour.

The band, which used to boast Kent-based musician and television star Jools Holland among their number, provided the music for BBC 2 drama Cradle To Grave based on the autobiography Going To Sea In A Sieve by Danny Baker.

The television and radio presenter said his daughter Mancie will be playing a short support set and he may even act as master of ceremonies.
