Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury, to close for up to six days after water main bursts

A road will be closed for up to six days after a water main burst.

Stodmarsh Road in Canterbury will be shut while South East Water carry out repairs, which could take almost a week to complete.

The route will be blocked from The Woods, and diversions are in place for drivers.

A Kent County Council Highways spokesman said on Twitter: “We give notice that Stodmarsh Road, Canterbury will be closed to through traffic on or after August 3 for up to six days.

“The road will be closed outside The Woods.

“The alternative route is via Stodmarsh Road, Eldbridge Hill, Court Hill, Jubilee Road, A257 The Hill, Canterbury Road, Littlebourne Road, Stodmarsh Road and vice versa.

“This closure is necessary to enable burst water main repairs to be carried out by South East Water.

“This notice applies when the relevant signs and barriers are on site and is valid for a period of no more than 21 days.”
