Sturry level crossing damaged by lorry as police close road between Shalloak Road and Broad Oak Road near Canterbury

A road was closed in both directions after a lorry crashed into and damaged a level crossing.

The incident happened on the Broad Oak Crossing between Shalloak Road and Broad Oak Road in Sturry at about 8am this morning.

Traffic was queueing while the road was closed from Vauxhall Road to Bluebell Woods Caravan Park while the British Transport Police and Network Rail were at the scene.

The accident “left the crossing unsafe to use” but police say the damage has now been fixed and officers left the scene at 10am.
