Person airlifted to London hospital after collapsing in Bridge Street, Canterbury

A person has been airlifted to a London hospital in a serious condition after they collapsed in the street.

Paramedics and the fire service were called to Bridge Street, Canterbury, shortly before 9am today.

An air ambulance landed near the scene, understood to be St Augustine's Abbey in Longport.

A spokesman for the ambulance service confirmed the person was given emergency treatment before being airlifted to a London hospital in a serious condition.

They could not confirm the sex or age of the person.
