PC hurt as patrol car hits lamppost

A KENT police officer was taken to hospital after the patrol car he was driving was in collision with a lamppost.

The incident happened at about 3.30am on Wednesday in Rheims Way at Canterbury. The PC was taken to hospital in Margate with minor injuries. He has since been released. Another officer, a passenger in car did not require hospital treatment.

The car was not attending a call and no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

A Kent Police spokesman said the circumnstances were being investigated.
