Parrot escapes from Wingham Wildlife Park in Canterbury after being scared by seagulls

A zoo is urging residents to look out for an escaped parrot which gave flight after becoming panicked by seagulls.

The bird at Wingham Wildlife Park in Canterbury took off after a couple of gulls “swooped in and startled her” earlier this afternoon.

The park off Rusham Road has posted on social media in a bid to get her safely back and is urging anyone who sees the post to share it.

A picture of the parrot, which is green with red details on its face, has also been shared and those living in the area are being encouraged to keep an eye out for her.

“Unfortunately earlier this afternoon when we were flying her a couple of seagulls swooped in and startled her, causing her to take off,” the post read.

“Please if you see her do let us know and help us bring her back home safely.

“Even if you haven't spotted her please share this post so others can also keep an eye out.”

The park also said the bird may have flew north in the direction of Preston village.
