A Kent couple are due in court today after being extradited from Spain on drug and money laundering charges.

Unemployed Darren Wright, 47, and Debra Wright, 48, flew in to Heathrow Airport yesterday.

The pair, formerly of Canterbury Road, Herne Bay, were charged with conspiracy to produce a class B drug - cannabis - and conspiracy to conceal criminal proceeds, or money laundering.

They are due to be remanded today.

Their appearance comes after officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate worked closely with the Spanish authorities following a tip-off that two people wanted in connection with large-scale cannabis cultivation allegations were in southern Spain.
