If you thought facelifts were a fad for the rich and famous, then meet Flo the Neapolitan mastiff from Faversham.

The two-year-old has been fighting a disease called cherry eye since she arrived at Happy Endings Rescue as a stray and now needs the plastic surgery to help with her sight.

Her ailment means she requires surgery to lift skin from her face.

She suffers with poor vision and constant irritation from the excess skin on her forehead. Volunteers at the rescue centre in Well Lane, Ospringe, are looking to raise the £1,000 for her corrective surgery.

After being abandoned and left with Happy Endings, the charity decided to raise funds to help get her the facelift she desperately needs.

She has had an operation to lift the skin around her eyes, but will need further surgery to correct the problem.

Happy Endings founder Chris Johns said: "We currently face vet bills in the region of £12,000 and £13,000.

"We are trying to raise the money needed to bring these bills down.

"Flo came here with the problem. She has already had the first stage of her operation so we will see how it goes. She may need to have a full head lift if this doesn't work. This is a problem for the breed due to the excessive skin."

Phone 01795 530 371 or email info@happyendingsrescue.org if you can help with the fundraising efforts or make a donation on behalf of Happy Endings directly to the vet on 020 8300 3038.
