Residents who claim the noise levels from one of Canterbury's most popular music clubs are a nuisance have forced a review of its licence.

Orange Street Music Club specialises in folk, jazz, blues and world music.

But its future is to be decided at a city council licensing hearing meeting on Friday.

A review of its license has been prompted by residents who claim its noise levels are a nuisance.

In a letter to the council, Joann Durkin said: “It’s horrendous living here at the moment and I feel our lives should not be disrupted anymore."

Club owner Stefan Colley said he had improved the sound proofing within the last three weeks and some of those who wrote objections have been in the club since then.
