Canterbury: Howletts pallas cat Temujin dies aged 11

Keepers at a wild animal park have paid tribute to a popular pallas cat who has died following advanced renal failure, aged 11.

Temujin, affectionately known by keepers as Little Man, was a popular resident at Howletts near Canterbury since he was born in 2007.

He fathered three offspring with his partner Nuruu and was considered a small cat with a big personality.

At times, visitors would see Temujin and his impressive markings with ease, or other days they would just be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of him hiding away in his rocky enclosure.

There are now six pallas cats at the wild animal park following his death.

A statement from the park reads: "Over the years he became a firm favourite with both visitors and staff who spent time with him.

"The team will miss him hugely but have fond memories of Little Man taking a cheeky swipe at their legs or trying - but often failing - to figure out how to use any number of enrichment items the team gave him.

"We will all miss Temujin, as we’re sure our visitors and supporters will too."
