Men needed for Fit Idol challenge

Where are all the men? They have been backward in coming forward for our Fit Idol challenge so have extended the deadline.

The last date for entries is now Wednesday, May 28, and we are hoping that lots more of you will take up the challenge to spend eight weeks improving their fitness.

Once again women have been fastest off the blockand we have received twice as many letters from women than men.

So come on you men - unless you want to see our first female Fit Idol winner!

We are searching for four men and four women to take on this year’s challenge.

You must be willing to spend eight weeks improving your fitness levels, with the help of our experts. For the length of the competition, you will be given free passes to your nearest Active Life gym.

Each week, your fitness and improvement will be monitored in a compulsory session on Wednesday evenings at Active Life’s Kingsmead gym in Canterbury.

The contestants’ progress can be followed on our website.

The winner will be the person judged to have made the most effort and progress.

Our Fit Idol will receive a year’s five-star gym membership, worth £420, at Active Life sports centres.

They will also win six months’ personal training and a meal and night for two at the Hotel Continental in Whitstable.

The runner-up will receive six months’ Active Life gym membership.

To enter write to Fit Idol, 9 St George’s Place, Canterbury, CT1 1UU, by Wednesday, May 28.

Please include your daytime and evening phone number, name and address, plus a short letter explaining your lifestyle and why you want to get fit.

Entrants must be willing to attend progress sessions at Kingsmead gym at 6.30pm every Wednesday throughout June and July.
