A three-vehicle crash caused massive traffic tailbacks on one of the main routes into Canterbury on Thursday morning.

The accident happened at 8.26am, 100 metres before the park and ride roundabout at the junction of New Dover Road and Old Dover Road.

Three children who were in one of the cars suffered minor injuries.

A 13-year-old had a head injury, an 11-year-old a chest injury and a four-year-old suffered from shock.

The cars involved were a Mini, an Alfa Romeo and a Corsa. The Mini was badly damaged and needed to be recovered.

One lane of the road was blocked and police carried out traffic patrols. Kent Highways were called to deal with oil spilt on the road.

At one time the traffic tailed back to the junction with the A2. The road was clear by 9.50am.
