Man still in hospital following university assault

A man remains in a London hospital following an assault at Kent University in Canterbury last Thursday.

Police were called to a disturbance at the Venue club, when more than 800 clubbers were evacuated following a fire alarm.

The 20-year-old Canterbury man is under observation at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, south London and is in a stable condition. Officers hope to speak to him either today or tomorrow.

Three people arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm have been released on police bail. Two 20-year-old men from Canterbury have been released pending further inquiries until July 16 and an 18-year-old Portsmouth man is due to answer bail on July 20.
