Man left with facial injuries following assault at The Westgate Inn Wetherspoons, Canterbury

A man in his 20s suffered multiple cuts to his face after he was allegedly assaulted at a Wetherspoons in Canterbury.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Sunday, March 17, as the victim was entering The Westgate Inn and the suspect was leaving.

Investigating officer PC Gareth Foreman said: "The victim was with a friend at the time of the assault and didn’t recognise the man.

"They were both knocked to the floor during the incident before the suspect, along with another man, fled in the direction of the Westgate Towers.’

The victim was taken to a local hospital but his injuries were not serious.

The suspect is described as a white man, of large build and around 5ft 6ins tall.

He was clean shaven and believed to be between 19 and 21 years old. He had short black curly hair and was wearing a navy blue tracksuit.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and reviewing available CCTV footage but would like anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward with information.
