Canterbury Ladies had their youngsters to thank for securing a 3-3 draw at Sutton Coldfield in National Premier Division on Saturday.

Lucy Hyams put the city club ahead with a penalty corner conversion after just three minutes but the West Midlanders side levelled through a similar set-piece from Vicky Woolford just two minutes later.

Eliza Brett restored the city club's lead on 24 minutes but two minutes before the break, former GB international Jane Sixsmith - almost three decades older than Hyams and Brett - drew the hosts level.

The 45-year-old then turned the game on its head with a third for Sutton on 44 minutes before Hyams pounced to claim a share of the points 15 minutes from time as third-placed Canterbury slipped two points behind leaders Surbiton.

Canterbury's men are second in the Premier Division after a 6-0 cruise against Loughborough, scoring four goals in the final 29 minutes to banish the memory of last weekend's 7-1 loss at Beeston.

Ross Gilham-Jones opened the scoring after nine minutes and David Mathews made it 2-0 on 18 minutes.

The third did not arrive until six minutes after the break when Devohn Teixeira netted, while Michael Farrer converted penalty corners on 45 and 60 minutes and Andrew Dunn sealed the rout four minutes from time.

They also ran in four second-half goals to beat Marlow 6-2 at Polo Farm in the opening round of the National Cup on Sunday.
