Two goals in the last two minutes condemned Canterbury Hockey Club's men to a 3-1 defeat against Reading in the EHL Premier Division.

After a goalless first half Reading took the lead in the 43rd minute though Richard Springham, but Canterbury skipper Matt Harper looked to have salvaged his side a valuable point when he netted just after the hour.

However, with just two minutes remaining Christopher Cargo restored the Reading lead, and in the final moments, the same player struck again to make it 3-1.

The defeat was Canterbury's fourth in a row and leaves them bottom with four points from six matches.

Canterbury Ladies lost top spot in the EHL Women's Premier Division after losing 2-0 at home to Reading.

Rebecca Halle broke the deadlock a minute before half-time and then made sure of the points for the visitors by adding a second in the 51st minute.

The result saw Canterbury slip to fourth place.
