“It has all got to stop.”

That is the desperate plea of Lydia Frewer, whose brother was killed by other members of the family after a long-running feud.

Mrs Frewer, from Canterbury, spoke exclusively to the Gazette this week of her hopes that the family can repair the rift which has built up since the night of violence in which Jack Treeby died and Gary Treeby was shot and beaten.

Her brother Bill Treeby, 50, from Paddock Wood, was found hanged in prison days after he and two of his sons, Billy Jnr and George, were convicted of the killing in Maidstone.

Mrs Frewer said tensions within the family had been running so high since Bill’s funeral in January, she had had a panic button fitted at her home, linked to Canterbury police station.

Among the incidents had been an arson attack on the Treeby’s home in Paddock Wood on April 10, when the words “killers” and “murderers” were also daubed on the driveway.

Mrs Frewer had one of the last prison visits with Bill the day before he was found dead on December 12, and said she was still coming to terms with his death.

She said: “At the end of the day the boys are serving their sentences.

“We have lost two brothers; it is heartbreaking for us.

“It has all got to stop. Life has got to carry on but it’s got to carry on without the arguments so other people don’t get hurt.”

"I hope we can get on without the arguments. I am on the end of the phone, if any of them wanted to talk.”
