A MURDERER working in a city-centre charity shop has been confronted by friends of his victim.

Jason Anderson, who is employed at the YMCA shop in the High Street, Canterbury, stabbed his pregnant girlfriend Alison Thorpe 47 times in a car park in 1993.

Miss Thorpe’s best friend from school, Michelle Locke, walked into the shop on Saturday to see the killer standing behind the counter.

In shock and anger, she called out to him: "When did you get out you murderer?"

Mr Anderson, who is now in his mid-30s, ignored what was said and carried on working.

But Ms Locke, 39, said: "My legs turned to jelly when I saw him and I knew it was him. I couldn’t help saying something, I’m only human."

Josephine Carlsson, YMCA England’s director of communications, was not prepared to discuss Mr Anderson and his work at the shop.

But she confirmed: "We do work with ex-offenders and with the probation service on their rehabilitation."

Full story and background to the case in this week's Kentish Gazette.
