Kent and former England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones opened the new all-weather sports field at St Faith’s School in Ash.

The event celebrated two years of fundraising by parents who have held wine and wisdom evenings, race nights, Christmas fairs, summer balls, bonfire parties and summer fun days.

Head teacher Stephen Kerruish said: “It is sportsmen like Geraint who have inspired our parents to raise thousands of pounds to build this wonderful new facility for our children.

“This new court will give our children even more opportunities to develop their skills and their teamwork.”

The new court means that every child has top quality sports coaching and many sports can continue when rain would make the grass unplayable.
