Disabled sailor Hilary Lister has visited Canterbury College to deliver a speech about her extraordinary life.

Despite suffering from a disease which has left her quadriplegic, she was the first disabled person to sail around the British Isles.

The 37-year-old, who lives in Dunkirk near Canterbury, spoke to college students plus pupils from visiting schools.

Student Chelsea Stacey said: “Having the chance to hear from Hilary about what she’s achieved was amazing.

“It’s great that she took the time to come into the College and I’m sure everyone has taken something from her talk.”
