Hunt for the laughing attacker

A 21-year-old man was attacked as he walking alone along a footpath.

Police say the assault happened as the victim passed a group of four people, two women and two men, off St Augustines Road, Canterbury.

One of the men suddenly punched him in the back of the head, causing him to fall to the ground.

Police spokesman Mike Ivatt said: "As the man got up and walked away he heard the group laugh. The incident happened at around 1.30am on the Sunday, February 12.

"The offender is described as a white man, aged in his early 20s. He was wearing blue jeans and black shoes."
