A Herne Bay mum has won her fight to stop an Islamic group marching through Wootton Bassett.

Islam4UK have called off their planned rally in the Wiltshire Town, famous for remembering British war dead, following a campaign launched on social networking site Facebook.

Jo Cleary, from Broomfield, was angered at the plans by the group to hold a rally against the war in Afghanistan, which included carrying empty coffins.

She said: "I feel ecstatic, it's really good news and it's especially pleasing for the families involved. I was absolutely amazed at the amount of support and how quick that support came in."

The 43-year-old set up a campaign group on Facebook earlier this month, which has attracted more than 700,000 members.

Last week, Jo revealed she had received death threats as a result of her opposition, but had been given full protection from Special Branch.

Now she's planning on getting Islam4UK banned.

She said: "Fundamentalists like Islam4UK shouldn't even be given a voice, and the divide they want to create within the Muslim community in this country won't happen."
