Herne Bay manager Barry Morgan is looking forward to a relatively stress-free close season.

Morgan (pictured) believes that his current squad, who finished sixth in the Kent League, are capable of mounting a serious challenge for the title next season.

"I am not actively looking for players at the moment," said Morgan, whose side would have finished third but for losing 2-1 to Faversham in their final game of the campaign.

"If any players decide to leave then I will replace them, but I believe that the experience my players have gained this season will stand them in good stead, and that we can be serious challengers next year."

Morgan, acknowledges that his side conceded too many goals. Their "goals against" total of 50 was the joint worst record amongst all the clubs in the top half of the table, and Morgan said: "We did let in far too many goals over the whole season, but during the final third of the campaign we conceded fewer than anybody and that’s what we will be looking to carry into next season."
