Live music and panto stars will get people in the mood for the switch-on of Canterbury’s Christmas lights on Thursday.

Emma Barton and Stephen Mulhern, who are appearing in Snow White at the Marlowe, will perform the ceremony in Longmarket.

They will be accompanied on the kmfm trailer stage by some of their dwarfs, with music from local acts Electric River and Billy Wears Dresses.

DJ Johnny Lewis, from kmfm, hosts the entertainment, which kicks off at 2.30pm.

Johnny will be handing out prizes as well as talking to Emma and Stephen before the switch-on at 5pm.

Emma will also do the honours at Herne Bay’s switch-on on Saturday in Mortimer Street. Breakfast DJ Bob Mower hosts the show, with the lights due on at 5.15pm.
