Four people taken to hospital after crash near Wingham Wildlife Park on A257 between Canterbury and Sandwich

Four people have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash.

A woman was airlifted in a serious condition following the collision near Wingham Wildlife Park, between Canterbury and Sandwich.

Police shut the A257, Roman Road in Shatterling for almost four hours after emergency services descended on the scene of the three-vehicle crash.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and a woman was taken to London hospital in a serious condition.

Three females and one male were injured in the crash on Saturday shortly before 5.30pm.

An ambulance service spokesman said: "A number of patients were assessed and treated before being taken to hospital.

"One patient was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in a serious condition.

"Three further patients were treated before being taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford."

Police confirmed they were called to the three-vehicle collision at about 5.30pm.

"The road was closed while the incident was responded to and reopened before 9.30pm," a spokesman for the force said.
