Five men try to rob security van at Canterbury Morrisons

Stunned shoppers watched in horror as five men tried to rob a cash-laden security van on Wednesday morning.

The drama unfolded just before midday at the Morrisons supermarket in Ten Perch Road, Canterbury.

A blue car carrying five men was seen pulling up next to a G4S security van delivering thousands of pounds to the Wincheap store.

Witnesses told how three of the men jumped from the car and ran at the van, but the two security guards managed get back in and locked the door.

The men were then seen banging on the van before getting back in the car and fleeing empty-handed.

Police are talking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage of the attempted raid.
