Faversham Town manager Ray Turner wants to secure the foundations of his squad in the coming days.

The Town boss wants last season’s players to decide if they want to stay or go so he can begin building for next season.

Turner (pictured) said: "Either way, the players need to make clear where they want to go and that would enable me to put plans into practice.

"In the next week or so, I’ll be getting people to put pen to paper. It’s now time for them to show their commitment."

Turner is awaiting news of goalkeeper Rob French, who is being courted by Whitstable.

"The ball’s in their court," Turner said.

A committee meeting on Tuesday night revealed how much leverage Turner had in attracting players to Salters Lane and he admits it will be tough.

He said: "It is evident that a few teams are going out and purchasing big players at the moment but that is something we are not able to do.

"I am going to have to balance out trying to stick to the budget, keep hold of our own players and pushing on to make us successful.

"It can be difficult with the constraints we are under and the next couple of weeks are going to be busy.

"The players here have always been positive to me but the reality is that big offers are on the table for some players at the moment and that’s what we’re facing.

"Ideally, I would like to get everyone signed up and on contracts but that’s not possible."
