Faversham Town manager Justin Luchford is confident he will hold on to top scorer Damian Abel for next season.

Abel (pictured) had an excellent campaign for the Lilywhites, scoring 24 goals in the Bulmers Cider Kent League as they finished fourth in the Premier Division table – their highest position for 17 years.

Luchford said: "I think Damian really enjoyed his football this season. I made him vice-captain and he appreciated the extra responsibility, and his goal return was superb. He is obviously one of the key men we need to keep next season along with the likes of Tom Hickman and Ashley Brown, and I am delighted that Ashley is already under contract."

Town are planning a summer of improvements at Salters Lane including re-seeding the pitch and installing new seats in the main stand.

Meanwhile leaders Faversham Under-18s face second-placed Canterbury City at Salters Lane tomorrow (Friday) in a match that will decide the Valley Express East Kent Youth League South title (ko7.45pm)
