Faversham Town assistant manager Clive Walker hopes the flurry of new arrivals will give the team better hope for next season.

The Lilywhites finished 17th in Ryman League, Division 1 South last term but, with new players arriving, expectations have been raised.

Midfielder Aidan Sherlock and goalkeeper Simon Overland have joined from Margate, right-sided player Aaron Lacy comes in from Hythe and well-travelled winger Antonio Gonnella is another new arrival.

Walker (pictured) said: "We want to do well this year, but it’s a good league with good teams. Hopefully, we can push on and have a better season than the last one.

"Looking at the squad, it seems a lot stronger and it’s more experienced. We have made some good signings and there may be a couple more coming in."

Faversham are also expected to be taking a couple of third-year scholars from Gillingham on work experience while several of last season’s players have also opted to stay, with Dave Botterill, Renford Tenyue and Matt Bourne the latest to commit for next season.

The squad are due to return to training on Saturday, June 30.
