Fair trade hits the high street

BUYING food to safeguard the futures of producers was the message in the High Street on Saturday.

The Fair Trade Fair saw businesses including eco4, Siesta and Babylove join the Canterbury District Fairtrade Network to mark World Fair Trade Day.

Clothes, crafts, coffee and curry - from Canterbury Curry Club’s Paul Babra - were all on sale at the event supported by Canterbury City Centre Partnership.

Fair Trade products give a fair price to suppliers making long-term, environmentally-friendly production possible in areas such as South America and Asia.
