Susannah Townsend and Rebecca Weston both scored twice as leaders EuroCanterbury Ladies stayed top of the England Women’s Premier Division table with a 7-2 win at Olton & West Warwicks on Sunday.

The West Midlands venue hasn’t proved the happiest hunting ground in the past, but EuroCanterbury changed all that, completing another convincing win, to remain a point clear.

They started poorly when Denise Marston-Smith put the home side ahead after only three minutes, but Townsend levelled the scores 60 seconds later.

Hayley Brown put the City club 2-1 ahead after 14 minutes, and they held the advantage until half-time.

Lisa Hunter made it 2-2 six minutes into the second half, but Natasha Brennan got EuroCanterbury’s third three minutes later as they eased home with further strikes by Lucy Hyams, Townsend and Weston (2) with four in nine minutes.

Canterbury men continue to struggle. They are bottom of the Men’s Premier Division, losing 4-0 at home to Loughborough Students on Saturday.
