Emergency incident outside the Marlowe Theatre in The Friars, Canterbury

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene of an emergency incident outside a theatre late last night.

Several emergency vehicles, including a critical care ambulance, were sent to the scene at the Friars in Canterbury, next to the Marlowe Theatre, following concerns for a woman's welfare.

Paramedics and police remained at the scene as audience members who had been to see Kinky Boots left the city venue.

Police spokesman Andy Saunders said: "Police assisted the South East Coast Ambulance Service with a medical incident in the Friars, Canterbury on Tuesday, January 15.

"It was reported to police at 10.35pm.

"A woman was attended to by ambulance crews, but didn’t require hospital treatment."

The ambulance service has been contacted for more information.
