A YOUNG man was taken to hospital with facial injuries after his car overturned on the A2 near Canterbury.

The red VW Golf is believed to have veered up an embankment before rolling over onto its roof on the coastbound carriageway between Bridge and Wincheap. No other vehicles were involved.

The 19-year-old driver was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford. His injuries are not thought to be too serious.

The stretch of road was closed to traffic while the car and debris was removed.
