Cyclist dies in crash with lorry on A257 Ash Bypass

A cyclist has died after a crash with a lorry on a busy road.

Emergency services were called to the A257 Ash Bypass, near its junction with Pedding Hill, following the collision involving a silver Scania tipper and cyclist.

The rider of the bicycle, a man in his 70s, died at the scene.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident between Wingham and Sandwich at about 11am yesterday.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and the road was shut until yesterday evening.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or who has dashcam footage that could help their enquiries, to contact them.
