A fire in a wood store next to the Thanet Way caused smoke to drift across the carriageway during rush hour.

Crews from Whitstable and Faversham were called to the blaze behind the Shell Garage at Dargate Services, just after 6pm on Thursday.

Police also attended the incident to warn motorists to slow down through the thick smoke.

The shed, alongside the London-bound carriageway, was completely destroyed and the blaze was under control just before 8pm.
