The club must aply for a one-off licence if it wants to stage another Sir Elton John-style event at St Lawrence

MASSIVE opposition failed to stop Kent County Cricket Club gaining a music and entertainment licence for its St Lawrence ground.

Members of the city council’s licensing committee agreed that the club could host 20 events a year which will have to end by 10.30pm with alcohol not served after 11pm.

The licensing committee also ruled that these events must be connected to cricket matches taking place at the ground.
