Choir sings for place in national final

Choirsters from Kent College in Canterbury have made it through to the category finals of a national singing competition.

The 64-strong mixed choir of pupils aged 10-14 have won a place in the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year, the UK’s largest amateur singing competition.

The category finals take place at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

More than 8,000 singers from 200 groups entered the competition in auditions across the country.

This number has been whittled down to the final 24 choirs, who will compete for a place in the finals on December 8.
