Concert in aid of Canterbury's Hambrook Marshes to go ahead - on Facebook and YouTube

A planned concert in aid of the Hambrook Marshes near Canterbury will still go ahead on Sunday- but in a virtual format.

It follows two arson attacks at the beauty spot which destroyed a wooden boardwalk and platform.

It was intended to put on the performance at the Westgate Hall but it had to be cancelled because of social distancing rules.

But organiser and musician Richard Navarro did not abandon the fundraiser and instead has pulled together around 30 performers for a live Facebook and YouTube premier at 7pm.

Many have sent pre-recordings and videos of their music and poetry to Richard who has edited it into a sequence for the show while others will perform live.

Among those performing will be Josh Magill, Luke Jackson, Coco and the Butterfields, Emily Watts, Tom Cooke the Boater, Anne James, Luke Dodson, Sam Bailey, MelZebra and the Buffalos, Brendan Power, Frances Knight, Chaucer Fielder, Paul Shave and Mary Anne Smith.

Richard said: "Many of the songs and poems have been specially written and recorded for the concert, and as well as live performances, viewers will be treated to photography, live footage and music videos curated by the performers themselves."
