Canterbury were unable to hold back National 2 South leaders Ealing, who ran out 72-34 winners on Saturday.

Ealing scored 11 tries and established a winning position by scoring 22 points in the first 15 minutes.

When it came to attack, however, the city side were no slouches either and the six tries they put past the Londoners – the most they have conceded in any game this season – earned a deserved bonus point

Three were scored by the prolific Peter Kelly, who is making the line-out catch and drive his speciality and which took his season’s try tally to 16.

The Canterbury pack fought well against their big budget opponents but a reshuffled and unfamiliar back division, hit by injures and absences, were out-muscled and outsmarted by a side that has the pace and handling skills to dismantle better defences than they met on Saturday.

Canterbury’s other tries came from Matt Sheen, George Micans and Rob Keir.
